Oxfam’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) teams lead emergency responses across the globe. Since the early 1960s they’ve provided safe water, toilets and public‑health support to millions of people. WASH services are critical for saving lives and promoting dignity during crises, and Oxfam’s expertise spans engineering, public health and behaviour‑change initiatives. Yet the wealth of guidance, technical briefs and resources produced over decades had become difficult for staff and partners to find and use.
The existing WASH resource website housed hundreds of documents but lacked a clear structure. Key resources were buried, navigation was confusing and updating pages was onerous. Oxfam needed a site that reflected their humanitarian mission and made their extensive knowledge base accessible to field teams worldwide.
Corsto Web Design reinvented the platform as a dynamic knowledge hub. We organised the content into intuitive categories – such as Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and WASH Approaches – with clear sub‑topics. A simplified menu and search help users quickly find what they need, while prominent “Most Popular” and “Recent Posts” sections highlight essential guidance. Editors can now add and update resources through a user‑friendly interface, and the site is ready for future growth and additional languages.
In humanitarian crises, timely access to the right information saves lives. By transforming Oxfam’s resource archive into an organised, easy‑to‑use hub, we’ve helped field workers and partners get the guidance they need, when they need it. This project demonstrates how thoughtful digital design can amplify the impact of humanitarian work and showcases Corsto Web Design’s ability to deliver elegant solutions for complex challenges.
